February 2 update: The 2010 route has been announced. All three stages will start from Porto-Vecchio on Corsica, a mountainous French island west of Italy. As usual there is a sprint stage, a mountain stage and a time-trial stage over one weekend in March. Normally, the sprinters' stage is first but this year with the move from the Ardennes to Corsica, the mountain stage will kick things off on Saturday March 27th with a 175 km course. A short (75 km) sprint stage and a 7.7 km time-trial will be held the next day on Sunday. Lance Armstrong and Cadel Evans are expected to partake. — Steve

The Critérium International is a two day bicycle stage race held in France every spring. It was formerly known as the Critérium National de la Route, first run in 1932. [The modern version consists of a long, rolling stage with a flat finish, a short, hilly/mountain stage with an uphill finish and a short time-trial].
For many years it was considered a sort of French national championship and was only opened to non-French cyclists in 1979.
The race has been won by some of the most famous names in cycling including Jacques Anquetil, Seán Kelly, Bernard Hinault, Miguel Indurain, Stephen Roche, Laurent Fignon and Jens Voigt. -- Critérium International Wiki
