Stage 6: Tony Martin crushes the field to move into the race lead
March 10 update: Recent editions of Paris-Nice have avoided time-trialing other than a prologue. This year, however, stage 6 will feature a rolling/hilly 27 km TT in Provence that should shake up the standings. Exceptional time-trialist HTC-Highroads's Tony Martin (left) is only 10s back of race leader Andreas Klöden. Klöden is a very good time-trialist himself, but he'll need one of his best performances to keep the Yellow Jersey after stage 6. February 1 update: The 2011 route was announced today in Versailles. Usually the "Race to the Sun" eschews time-trialing, but this year a 27 km time-trial on stage 6 replaces the prologue. I'm sure it has nothing to do with ex-Tour de France doper and weak time-trialist, Riccardo Riccò, stating earlier this year that Paris-Nice is one of his targets for 2011. Lots of climbing as usual in the latter stages as the race enters Provence and the finale around Nice. Preliminary race info including stage profiles for the mountain stages (5, 7, 8) are now posted in the race summary table are now posted. — Steve
