Looking down at the finish host, Jaca, from the category 3 Peña Oroel climb. The finishing climb, the cat 3 Fuerte del Rapitán (3.8 km @ 5.40%) is on the hill on the other side of town (photo credit: Ana y Paco Sancho)

August 23 update: Starting from Tarazona, stage 6 will be a picturesque route north to Jaca, a valley town located in the foothills of the Spanish Pyrénées. It will be a rolling stage until the peloton hits two category 3 climbs near the end of the stage including the 3.8km @ 5.4% hilltop finish, Fuerte del Rapitán. The short, punchy finish to the fort is not a steady climb and the numerous ramps/switchbacks will provide opportunities for numerous attacks by riders like Philippe Gilbert, Alejandro Valverde, Joaquim Rodriguez and Alberto Contador. The descent off the preceding cat 3 Peña Oroel is going to be fast with everyone looking to get to the base of the short, final climb in a good position. — Steve
