February 16 update: A final day time-trial will decide this race. At 35 km in length it's way too long for a four day stage race. Tony Martin is only 28s back in 11th and he stands a great chance of not only winning the time-trial, but repeating his overall win. Lieuwe Westra and Andreas Klöden are probably his biggest GC threats. — Steve

February 15 update: This is the stage that traditionally shakes up the GC before the final day TT settles it. The mountaintop finish on Alto do Malhão has been featured many times in this race. Richie Porte and Stephen Cummings are the previous two (surprise) winners. Here are photos from the 2011 finish on Alto do Malhão. It is a short, but at this time of the year, relatively steep climb (2.7 km, 9.25% average grade). In 2010, Alberto Contador won stage 3 on Malhão (see the good photo on our 2010 dashboard) to set up his overall win. — Steve

February 14 update: Lagoa is another regular host of this race. Stage 2 starts out hilly and finishes with some rollers. Normally, there is an small uphill finish in Lagoa but a rough calculation using this year's stage timetable reveals this year's finish is flat. — Steve

February 13 update: For at least the last three years, Albufeira has hosted the stage 1 finish of this race. Philippe Gilbert soloed to victory on the rolling finish in 2011 and John Degankolb and Gianni Meersman have won uphill power sprints here in 2010 and last year, respectively. So a sprint finish win for on-form Mark Cavendish is not guaranteed. — Steve

Live Video Streaming, Text Updates and TV Coverage

February 13 update: There is no live video this year. Race highlights each day on RTP 2 and Eurosport 2. RTP 2 will broadcast 10 minutes of highlights at 21h50 GMT each day while on Eurosport 2 will air 30 minutes of highlights daily at 23h00 CET and repeated the next day at 10:30 am CET. Check back for 2013 live coverage and highlights options as they become on available. — Steve
