Jens Voigt is one of the best all-round cyclists... a good climber, punishing on the rollers and an excellent time-trialist. That's why he's won The Criterium International four-times including the last two years. If congeniality were part of the criteria then he'd have a lock on this race every year. (photo: Ken Conley)

The Critérium International is a two day bicycle stage race held in France every spring. It was formerly known as the Critérium National de la Route, first run in 1932. [The modern version consists of a long, rolling stage with a flat finish, a short, hilly/mountain stage with an uphill finish and a short time-trial].
For many years it was considered a sort of French national championship and was only opened to non-French cyclists in 1979.
The race has been won by some of the most famous names in cycling including Jacques Anquetil, Seán Kelly, Bernard Hinault, Miguel Indurain, Stephen Roche, Laurent Fignon and Jens Voigt. -- Critérium International Wiki
