February 7 update: Stage 5 takes place in the northern most windy part of Qatar. Like last year, it finishes at Madinat Al Shamal at the northern tip of Qatar where a break succeeded in the wind (see Tom Boonen win photo above). However, only light winds are forecasted for the stage this year. — Steve

February 6 update: Stage 4 starts northwest of Doha at Camel Race Track (photo above from 2011), a regular host. The stage then heads to the west coast, meanders north and then back to the east coast to Al Khor Corniche, another frequent host. There will be a crosswind at some point on this stage. — Steve

Stage 1 will cross Qatar from east to west with the finish in Dukhan Beach. Every stage of this race is flat so it's up to the wind and riders to make it interesting each day. For this stage, there should be a 14 kph southeast side/headwind.
