This page provides essential information and links for the first big cycling classic of the year, Milan-San Remo 2009, which takes place this Saturday March 21st. At 298 km, it's a very long race with a few strategic climbs along the way. The last climb in particular, the Poggio is used by those attempting to break free before the finish, but often the day ends in a sprint finish. That's what makes this race so interesting... can a power climber with great descending skills stay away or who among the sprinters has the freshest legs after almost 300k of cycling. The flat finish is just 2k from the bottom of the technical Poggio descent. — Steve
